Facial Rejuvenation
In our busy culture, everyone wants to look his or her best. There are ways that we can age gracefully, and retain our youthful glow. The radiance of natural beauty
comes from a healthy body and mind. Holistic Beauty is achieved by working on the inside to most effectively change the outside appearance. The process of Facial Rejuvenation, also known as Cosmetic Acupuncture encompasses balancing ourselves from within, to allow and enhance our natural healthy vitality to shine outward as we age.
In Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, the entire body is treated, not just the face as a separate entity. The face is a mirror of a person's physical/emotional/spiritual being. Facial Rejuvenation is for both women and men.
This procedure is non-surgical, and does not have side effects.
The face "lifts" itself through the muscle's rejuvenation and a tightening action. The energy of the
body is stimulated, along with improved circulation, which improves facial color and enhances
collagen production.
Benefits of Facial Rejuvenation:
-
Improves collagen production & muscle tone. Improves facial color
-
Helps to firm & reduce bags under Eyes and reduce sagging tendencies
-
Reduce stress evident in the face. Provides a youthful glow
-
Fine lines are eliminated, and deeper wrinkles become less noticeable
-
Improves metabolism, tightens pores and brightens eyes.
-
Moisturizes face by increased circulation of blood and lymph.
-
Improves overall health & well being
-
May be used to help hormonal acne.
Chinese Medicine & Fertility
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for fertility includes the use of acupuncture, herbal medicine, diet and lifestyle advice. Treating fertility with Chinese Medicine, works best with an application of all three.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is effective as treatment for infertility and in conjunction with fertility medications and procedures. Many people try Asian medicine first, before attempting assisted reproductive therapies. Not only is it a fraction of the cost, but also the body will be more receptive to fertility medications if assisted therapies are needed. For many couples that have unexplained infertility, acupuncture and herbs are very effective with high success rates.
Chinese Medicine works in the following way:
Regulating the hormonal cycle, to support a cycle that is regular, provides good quality fertile mucus, regulate ovulation, enhance the quality of the egg and development, minimizes or eliminates pre-menstrual symptoms, and promote embryo implantation for a viable pregnancy The overall premise is that if a menstrual cycle is generally symptom free, and the hormones are regulated, this will provide an optimum environment for conception to occur.

Fertillity / Infertility conditions able to be addressed with TCM are:
-
Advanced Maternal Age
-
Amenorrhea
-
Anovulation
-
Endometriosis
-
High FSH Levels
-
Hormonal Imbalances
-
Immunologic Infertility
-
Luteal Phase Defect
-
Male Factor Infertility (except sterility)
-
Polycystic Ovaries
-
Recurrent Miscarriage
-
Tubal Obstruction
-
Unexplained Infertility
-
Uterine Fibroids
A root imbalance can be detected from a holistic point of view and thereby treated successfully. Acupuncture, together with herbal medicine can help regulate the menstrual cycle, invigorate the sperm and create a general sense of well being which aids in conception.
The endocrine system is very delicate and affected by many things that can throw it off, primarily stress. Acupuncture can aid in relaxation, which creates an environment where conception occurs more readily. Research has shown that acupuncture directly affects hormone balance and uterine blood flow, enhancing fertility and improving the chances for conception.
IVF and IUI-Assisted Therapies
If assisted reproductive therapies such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) or Intra Uterine Injections (IUI) are needed which are the common assisted therapies acupuncture can help prepare the body to function optimally so that the best possible outcome is achieved. It does this by assisting the ovaries in producing more follicles and eggs raising the chances of conception, and preparing the uterus and body for pregnancy.
Acupuncture performed before and after an IVF transfer increases the chances of pregnancy by about 50%. In addition, acupuncture can greatly reduce the possible toxic side effects of fertility drugs, making them safer while increasing effectiveness.
With all the stress and anxiety that may accompany trying to get pregnant, acupuncture can relax and balance your body's natural state of well-being.
Weekly treatments are recommended for several months prior and during trying to conceive. This allows the body to have enough time to "adjust" and "hold" that natural state of health.
There are many articles and recently published research about acupuncture, fertility and IVF.
Acupuncture during Pregnancy
This area requires specialist training in obstetric acupuncture beyond the initial training of an acupuncturist. Acupuncture during pregnancy has been shown to be an ideal therapy, as it is able to address conditions that are often seen as normal. Some of the conditions acupuncture is able to support at this time are:
-
Morning sickness and pregnancy nausea
-
Backache, sciatica, carpal tunnel, cramps
-
Muscular Pelvic pain
-
Indigestion, heartburn, abdominal pain, constipation
-
Hemorrhoids, varicose veins
-
Breech babies and Malpositioning
-
Anxiety, insomnia, stress, tiredness

Sport Medicine Acupuncture
Sport medicine acupuncture is another form of therapy which uses the needle and principles from traditional Chinese medicine, but incorporates western knowledge of anatomy and physiology to select the points. Treatment is based on conventional assessment, which can consist of palpation, range of motion, orthopedic and neurological testing.
Needles are placed into motor points, shortened muscles, or trigger points. Stimulation causes these muscles to lengthen, thus normalizing the structure and function of the area locally and distally through the nervous system. Sports Medicine Acupuncture creates controlled injuries to tissues unleashing the body's healing source of bio-energy through the current of injury. Tissue injury also releases growth factors which can promote healing and strengthen weakened tissues. In addition, endorphins are produced, which can facilitate healing and reduce pain.
